Students shine on A-level results day
We are incredibly proud of our wonderful Year 13 students, who have once again shone in their summer examinations, achieving a commendable collection of A-level results.Following our Ofsted visit in December, Inspectors described our staff as being “unwavering in their pursuit of academic excellence.” This assertion was encompassed by this year’s results, in which 30% of students achieved an A grade average.
As a Sixth Form, we have continued to excel in the Department for Education’s measure of AAB with at least two facilitating subjects. This year, 28.8% of our students achieved this threshold. 62.4% of grades, meanwhile, fell within the A* to B bracket, with 36% of students achieving either an A* or A, in increase of 6% from last year.
At Beauchamp City, we equip our students with the knowledge, skills and confidence to access competitive university places. We were, therefore, especially thrilled to celebrate the success of 16 of our cohort, who can look forward to studying at one of the leading ‘Oxbridge’ institutions; this figure was around double the national average for state schools.
Among these was Oliver who, after achieving four A*s and one A, is off to Oxford to study Mathematics. Meanwhile, Reuben and Toni will be heading to the University of Cambridge; Reuben studying Geography and Toni studying Chemistry Engineering and Biotechnology.
Jasmine secured her place at University College London to study Comparative Literature, having obtained two A*s and one A, while, with three A grades, Emily can look forward to studying Liberal Arts at University of Nottingham.
It wasn’t all about prestigious university places, though; having secured one A* and two A grades, Xander has decided to embark on an accounting apprenticeship with Cooper Parry, a successful accountancy firm based in Derby.
On this year’s results, Principal, James McKenna said: “We are delighted that our students' commitment to academic endeavour has been rewarded.
“We have built a wonderful school community here at Beauchamp City and, just as our current group of students have been supported by their predecessors, we look forward to continuing to work with our alumni to support young people in Leicester to make well informed decisions about their future.
“We cannot wait to see how this incredible group of young people will go on to shape the wider world and make a difference.”
