Beauchamp City – Leicester's newest sixth form – achieves highest possible Ofsted grading of ‘significant progress’ following monitoring visit in October
Following our first inspection in late October by His Majesty’s Inspectors, we’re delighted to announce our school was judged to be meeting the highest possible standard in all areas, that being ‘significant progress’.
Having been awarded the ‘significant progress’ standard in all three key areas, inspectors recognised that ‘progress has been rapid and is already having considerable beneficial impact on learners’.
After opening our doors to the first cohort of sixth form students at Beauchamp City in 2020, this was a New Provider Monitoring Visit which assesses the quality of provision in recently-opened education providers. The team of Inspectors undertook a thorough review of our provision over two days, observing lessons, talking to students, gaining parental feedback and interviewing staff across teaching and support departments.
We’re thrilled that they were overwhelmingly positive about what they observed and that they celebrated our focus on raising aspirations and providing clear access routes to higher education, apprenticeships and employment for all students, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
This follows the recent success of our 2020 students who received their A-level and level 3 exams in August 2022 – the first since Beauchamp City’s opening – when over half (53.5%) of all students gained at least one A* or A grade, over a quarter (26%) achieved an A-grade average across all of their subjects and a huge 47% were offered a place at a Russell Group university.
The Ofsted inspection report is welcome recognition of the excellent academic and holistic opportunities we provide for our students, providing them with the knowledge and tools for a bright future.
