All-day cycle event

Staff at Beauchamp City Sixth Form raised well over £500 for Bliss – a leading charity for sick or premature babies – by taking part in an all-day cycle event during the last week of term.

Organiser James Crumbie was joined by Rob Rooney, Tom Raine, Phil Marshall, Chris Lunn, Tracey Smith and Dan Burke who, between them, cycled 345 miles in six hours and 15 minutes.

Students were on hand to provide much-needed encouragement and were even able to take part in the ‘Distance Decider Competition’ where they were tasked with estimating the total number of miles cycled throughout the day.

“[It was] most definitely a challenge,” commented Mr Crumbie.

“But [we were] much aided by the support of the school community [whose support] enabled the team to smash through targets for distance and time and also raise more than the original target set.”

“Thank you to everybody who has donated, supported, shared and congratulated us,” he added.

The generous contributions from school community members will go a long way to ensuring Bliss – who rely on donations to fund their work – are able to support premature or sick babies.
